Meet Our Riders!

"I began riding at Glendale with Molly in 2003, when I was 9 years old. Snowy was the first horse I ever rode. A big (to me) older, white horse. She was so gentle and I just loved her. Over the years, Molly helped to teach me to be a great rider. Eyes up, heels down. You know the saying. I still hear it in my sleep. Three years later, I began searching for a horse of my own. Although Molly has a plethora of gentle horses to learn on, I wanted to teach my own horse. Poor Molly. She had no idea what she was getting into when she came with me to look at this western horse in Bethlehem, Md. We took him to Molly and Jamie's a few days later.
The years that followed were fantastic. Molly has an extraordinary gift of helping riders with equestrian breakthroughs. Whether it's getting your horse to finally bend to the left, or mastering that roll back. She is there every step of the way to figure out how to make things click. She helped take that western pleasure horse and turn him into a Low Hunter Champion jumping 3 foot plus courses with ease. I give a lot of credit to both Molly and Jamie for who I am today. I spent half of my childhood as a "barn rat" and learned the ins and outs of horses. The proper way to clean a saddle, duct taping a foot after a shoe fell off, or that sprickets love to hang out in the feed room (and that I am not a fan of said sprickets). Although work and life has limited my time to ride, Molly is always happy to let me come out and ride whenever I get the chance. It's just like stepping back in time the minute I drive up the lane. Taking me back to when I was 12 again and feeling like it was my second home. I'm grateful for all the friends I made at Glendale, that turned into family. Every time I get the urge to ride, I know I'll be welcomed with open arms. So I put on my boots and helmet, and head on out. You know, the infamous, "One last time"." - Alicia Gannon, 23 |

"I have been riding at Glendale for 8 months now. I love seeing and knowing all the horses, jumping on Sunny and trial rides!" - Wylie Keegan, 10
"My son has loved riding at Glendale. It is his first experience with riding and he is hooked! Molly is a wonderful instructor who knows exactly how far to push her students, and how to make riding fun! Glendale is such a welcoming barn and it's apparent how much all the horses there are well cared for and loved." Molly Keegan- Mother of Wylie |

"My daughter, Jorja and I were first introduced to the Fosters and Glendale a little over a year ago through our trainer, Kristin Diem. I had heard the name Molly Foster in the horse world for many years but never had the honor of meeting her. Molly is who she is- a horse professional, riding instructor, farm manager, and teacher of good character. Students are not only taught lessons in proper horsemanship but also in how to be determined, persistent, polite, and conscious of the world around them. You may leave a lesson feeling exhausted but it's because you got a good dose of what you came for- proper, intentional riding that tests your endurance both mentally and physically. Molly makes you think and figure things out and then hang in there until you get it. The farm is a horse farm- not a show place of fancy barn aisles and stalls. It is a practical place where horses are well kept in a natural environment. The horses are healthy, happy and content. Jamie's husbandry of the farm and animals is remarkable. He is forever busy maintaining the farm and preparing for whatever venue is next. On one of our earliest visits to Glendale we were welcomed into Molly and Jamie's backyard for a birthday barbecue for Molly. It was just a real, honest place where both horse and horse enthusiast can develop their potential."

“ I have been riding at Glendale Riding School for 15 years. My mother began taking lessons with Molly before I was born and the rest is history! Molly, Jamie, and everyone from the barn are my second family and I am very lucky to have them. I have learned countless lessons during my time at Glendale, including lessons about horses and life. I would not be where I am today without the whole Glendale crew, and am very grateful for every second of it! " -Kayla Harvey, 22 |

"I have been riding for over 30 years and started riding English later in life. After having 2 other trainers I started with Molly. She is about balance with the horse and rider and won't push you past your ability. Molly has patience and makes time for each rider. I have been riding with her for 5 years now and don't plan on going anyplace else."

"I’ve been riding at Glendale for four years and it’s my favorite place to ride! I love coming to the barn after a stressful day and talking to all my friends, or just going on a relaxing trail ride.
Molly Foster is an outstanding trainer who is always there to help you with anything you need, or to help you reach your goals, and is an extremely generous person. She has many years of experience Her husband, Jamie Foster, takes excellent care of the farm, and I can be at ease knowing my horse is in the best of hands. Jamie is always working on something for the barn! Wether it’s new fencing, cross country jumps, dragging/watering the rings, or anything you need help with! I’ve made numerous life long friends at GRS and can proudly say it’s my second home! Being at Glendale has given me many experiences I don’t think I would have ever done anywhere else. Wether it’s helping little kids, hanging out with the kids my age, or even talking with the adults! In 2014, I joined Tidewater Pony Club which is based out of Glendale and is an outstanding organization. They teach so much more than just riding, such as education, safety, sportsmanship, stewardship and fun! Pony club is something I plan to be involved in for a very long time. I also became, and still am a member of Chesapeake Bay Horse Show Association, which is a friendly show circuit for hunter/equitation riders on the eastern shore of Maryland and Delaware. Thanks to the help of Molly Foster I’ve Qualified/Competed in USPC Champs and Colonial Classic in 2016 and 2017, while also receiving some USDF and USPC awards. Glendale is a great place for anyone who is an experienced rider, or wants to learn how! Everybody is always kind, friendly, and willing to lend a helping hand. I don’t know who I would be as a person if I never came to GRS. It doesn’t matter your age, we’re all here for the same thing, the love of horses!" - Jocelyn Hunt, 15 |

"I was the first in our family to take lessons from Molly back in the early 1990’s. I even rode when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, Erin! Glendale Riding School has been a big part of our lives and I want to say that we still enjoy going to the barn after all these years. I love the people, horses, and Molly and Jamie. GRS has a great family atmosphere. They have taught me and my 3 girls all about horse care and the understanding of how to ride properly and how it affects your riding. We also do a lot of US Pony Club activities at the barn and we host the Delmarva Region Show Jumping Rally here. We have enjoyed many CBHSA Shows over the years, all four of us even showed at one time! My youngest daughter, Kayla, who is now in college, continues to show, event, and take lessons. They all have fond memories of barn sleepovers, taking the horses to the river to swim after camp, and musical dressage. Molly, Kristin and Emily have done an amazing job as trainers over the years and we look forward to the new Eventing chapter at GRS with Lizzie. Come join our Glendale family!"

"We have been riding at Glendale for 3 years now. Our favorite thing about being #GRSKids is all the fun things we do, riding, and the camps! We also love seeing everyone and all of the friends we have made!"
